Sunday - Luxury Shave
I took this day as my birthday shave instead of Saturday. I knew I was going to have more of a chance for some peace and quiet. I took a bath with a mixture of Burt's Bees Bath Salts, Menthol Sports Mineral Bath and some Booth's Mineral Lavender Bath Soak. I soaked in that for about half and hour. I had brought a small towel and my shave stuff into the bath with me and along with a mirror. Now that I was completely relaxed, I replaced some water in the tub with more hot water and proceeded to get ready to shave. This was the setup:

I did three passes and cleanup while keeping the bowl of cream resting on my leg in the water to keep it warm. With that brush and a little extra cream than usual, I was in shave cream heaven. I used a couple of different settings on the Progress for different parts of my face. I ended up with a 4.8/5.0 shave. I finished up with some Thayer's Witch Hazel Aftershave and some Saint Charles Shave LLC Sandalwood Eau De Toilette. Then I applied some Epicurean Shea Butter Co Shea Butter Vanilla & Sandalwood Body Moisturizer. After all that, I took an hour nap. :D

Result: 4.6/5.0 The Feather ACD-N knocked them down and the Progress finished them off. Almost zero redness and real smoothness all over the place. All healed up from last week's disaster. Going to use the ACD-N with DE combination more often. More practice in preparation for using the STR8s more.

Note: The only fault I can find with the Progress is the handle can be a little slick. I make sure I keep my fingers rinsed off and dry.

I was a bit shocked at how great this "plain jane" shave was.

I dropped about a TBSP of hot water onto the puck, then laid everything out. About 15 swirls onto the puck, then right to the face, dipping the tips into the hot water every 10 seconds or so. In about 45 seconds, my face is completely covered in the thickest, richest lather imaginable. The brush is also heavily loaded. Upon inspection, there are zero bubbles present. Looks like a melted marshmallow almost. Anyways, WTG, XTG, ATG, relathers inbetween, hot water rinse, then a cold water rinse, then a dab of Nivea. Skin, buttery soft. Great shave! About 2 passes left on the brush. Unreal.

Tried another of my recent acquistions with a Merkur blade. This one happends to be women's super speed. Since my wife is using one of those terrible disposables I might as well get some use out of this one if she is not going to. This one is identical to my other super speeds in functionaility, the only difference is that it has a long handle rather than the normal handle. Photo of the little gem below:

I mixed Aqua Velva and Thayer's Witch Hazel. It's very calming for my skin. Witch Hazel alone may burn but Thayer's is definitely not like that.

Result: 4.6/5.0 One tiny weeper from XTG under chin with the Feather ACD-N. I expanding my techniques a little with that razor. Of course, Bay Rum, was the theme of the day as you can see. This was the first time using The Shave Den Bay Rum Soap. Lather and performance passes my standards for a soap with plenty of room to spare.. The scent is very good and natural without being overpowering. No irritation. The Ogallala Bay Rum aftershave and cologne continue to be one of my favorites.

Returned to an old clasic that I had almost forgotten. A Merkur 1904 Clasic with a white lable Wilkinson Clasic blade. I still do not care much for three piece razors, I tend to cut my fingers on the blade when loading them. Preferr one piece for ease of loading the blade. Will rotate back to the 50s super speed then the 60s super speed over the week-end. Hope to have some photos for the photo galleries here of my pride and joy among the shavers, my super speeds.

2. Smear on generous amount of Noxzema Deep Cleansing Cream
3. Shower, washing face last
4. Onto wet face, apply about 1 teaspoon Alt Innsbruck PreShave Emulsion
5. Apply very damp hot towel for at least 2 minutes, refreshing with new hot water as needed.
6. Rinse face with fairly hot water,
7. Apply Proraso pre-shave.
8. Apply light coat of lather (Tryphon Mentolo Shave Soap) Rub in with brush (Muehle Pinsel Best Badger) for 30-60 seconds. Let stand another 30 seconds.
9. Rinse with warm water, lather up (Floid Shave Cream), and shave (Gillette Superspeed w/ Treet DuraSharp Carbon Double Edge Blade)

I was told Denu was cold.. but I wasnt told that it would be as if an Ice bear dropped you into the Antartic pole water for a swim . :eek::eek:
The smell to me is similar to Ingram so I like it m, but the lather just explodes like a no brained something I have difficulties with Ingram but not Denu while your shaving suddenly your face will start to be on Fire but not from the heath but from the cold.. so after I was done with pass one instead of washing the face with warm water like usual I used Col. oh big mistake ICE ice cold... quickly got some warm water.. what this does to your face is extra blood circulation going from COLD to Hot..
Well after the 3 pass I lathered up and started cleaning the shave gear then splashed off the lather with cold water.. well very nice I couldnt feel my face anymore totally frozen off.

Well Cracky you can keep your Ingram ! send me another Denu its a winner
