Should the Newbies category be moved under General? I just have a feeling that they'll both end up being a lot of the same stuff

I think they mean the threads in the newbie section would be similar to those of the general section. In other words, the newbie questions are likely to be general questions.

My thought is that if it's not under General, it will end up being a very similar section. If it's a subforum under General then it will more likely be a greeting/welcome section, which is what I think it should be.

Yeah, the subforum sounds best IMO. There are general topics of interest that are not necessarily specific to newbies, however many questions from newbies are directly related to general shaving topics.
