Which do you keep coming back to time and again? On another forum the Super Speed barely edged out the Heavy Duty. If you do not see you favorite lsited here click other than write the name.

So far my favorite is the Gillette Slim Adjustable. The only other razor I tried is the Merkur HD. I have a Superspeed and a Tech on the way so my favorite might change.

Hay James, try that super speed others who have tried both have told me that the super speed will leave the slim in the dust. The Tech is somewhat of a mixed bag some people I have talked to love it others think its to querky. But the Super Speed has become a run away best seller for a reason.

Merkur HD is still my standard DE razor. I use it for all my Method shaving. When I'm in a hurry and don't have time to use the straight, I'll alternate between my other Merkurs equally.

I have heard some things about the progress seems to be similar to the Merkur Future that I have.

Had a bade experinece once with my Future, I put in a brand new blade and did not notice that I had the razor cranked up on five at the time. I learned right then and there to always start a new blade on one. Need less to say my face looekd like it had been put through a blender. Sort of the way my face looks like after a Russian Gillette or a Euro Gillette has touched it.

The HD or another razor with the Classic head
The Futur
The Slant
The Gillette NEW
The Vision

Not in my book - The slim adjustable is almost good enough to make me give up straights. The red knob super speed is pretty cool though.

I'm a SER shaver! So, for me, the true answer is a Wade & Butcher "For Barber's Use" SER.

However, if I must absolutely identify a DE razor, then the answer is a Merkur Progress (it's got the most time of use of any of my DEs -- because I'm a SER shaver! :happy093).

The Long Handled Classic. The 23 skee-doo. This is definitely my favorite razor. Although I have been enjoying my Trumper Warwick. Long handle same head but a simulated tortoise finish. Very comfortable in the hand.

Favorite Gillette - '56 Red-Tip

LOL. I marked other because I didn't see the slim adjustable listed, and that is my goto DE razor if I haven't got time for a straight shave. But most mornings I do have the time, so my favorite razor would truly be a Wostenholm Peerless.

I can't stay away from Gillette Techs. I like all I have tried. I like the little travel one that I have for shaving the back of my neck. The one I have in gold are my favorite. Why, I don't know. I avoided the Tech for a long time, and regret that I did. It is a gentle not very agressive razor, but I can get it to go in the tight places near my nose that I can't reach with any other razor. I just like them. I will gladly care for any that are neglected and need attention. John

How about a review on the Weishi, Klaus :D

I wasn't sure I have sufficient experience in DE shaving to do that, but OK, let's give it a try:

Look and feel:
The Weishis have an excellent finish, beats any Merkur I saw (I own the Standard and the Slant). I think the razor is very well made and well balanced.

Shave:
A very forgiving razor. If I handled the Slant the way I handle my Weishis I had 911 on my speed dial! Still, it gets the job done. I get very good, virtually irritation free, more often than not BBS shaves with it. Nicks are very rare and more blade dependent.

BTW, all my 4 Weishis, which I got from two different sources, are identical, except for the finish. There is zero variation in build and finish quality!

Did I forget anything? Please feel free to ask!

Try the slant becuase its for more advanced users and will help improve your skills. Its defeinetly not an entry level blade.

Someone at another forum once told me that the reason that most of us get acquisition disorder is that we are out there looking for perfect, in my parlance I am looking for the promise land. Most people tend to find the perfect and stop buying, this individual says. There are four catagories of shaving: the brush, the razor, blade and after shave. I have the brush down, I am far from done with the blade, the razor - I have a fiarly good idea where the promise land is just need a little mroe tweeking to get there and the after shave - thought I knew where the promise land is but not so sure now.

I'm constantly reshuffling my favorites. Today my personal ranking is:

Tech
SuperSpeed black handle U4 1974
SuperSpeed Red Tip C1 1957
NEW
Slim Twist L4 1991-92
Eversharp (Schick Krona) 426M mid-60s
Fat Boy F4 1960
Slim Adjustable H1 1962

Usually the Tech or NEW is at the top of my list but I've been on a Super Speed kick lately. I have about ten others I no longer use including two more SuperSpeeds. I'm trying to cut these eight to four. I have no rotation plan — I just choose one at random every morning.

What a great thread. I’ve been shaving with a ‘50s SuperSpeed for about the last 6 months and after reading this thread it made me feel like I was stuck in a rut! So, this morning I used my Merkur Futur… it’s like getting reacquainted with an old friend.

My favorite razor for shaving would have to be the ‘50s Gillette SuperSpeed with the flared TTO knob. My favorite for look and feel, but not for its shaving qualities would be my Gillette President; it looks like a beautiful piece of jewelry but it’s just a tad to aggressive for me.

I voted "other." If you look at my SOS postings, you'll see that I use a Feather ACD-N as my base razor the majority of the time. I mix that up with the occasional str8. My goto razor is a Merkur 34C but I donated that to a worthy cause and rely on the 34G version instead. My normal secondary razor to the Feather ACD-N is a Merkur Progress. That stays in my shave kit all the time while I'll rotate a different DE razor each week into my kit next to it. Now that I have you all confused...:D

I tend to favor the one I'm currently using!!
President, #58, #16, Double Ring Rocket, HD and Slant. I tend toward more aggressive, heavy razors.
One of these days I may try an adjustable again. Last one I had was back in the late 60's.
That said, once you determine your agressiveness preference, I tend to think the blade and soap have a larger impact on shave quality than the actual razor.
