4/5 Stars on this shave. The Filly was a great blade. I almost got BBS on the first pass. I dont know if its because i hadnt shaved in 4 days, but this was a superb shave, that i ruined a bit with an ATG on the neck...minor irritation, that will heal with the floid.

Pinaud Eau de Quinine Hair Tonic

First use of MB's new cold pressed soap. The lavender scent is intoxicating, one of the boldest lavenders I have tried. I had some trouble working up a lather using my normal technique. This may be solved with experimentation. The lather I did get this morning was rather thin, but it lubricated very well. My normal 3 pass shave resulted in a BBS shave with no irritation, weepers, or nicks

It's a new type of soap for me so I will be using it all week to fine tune my methodology.

This sounds similar to Olivia's soap. Try less water than you use normal.

* D.R. Harris Marlborough Shaving Cream is a really good cream, but that scent is far too subtle for my liking. If it was a little bit more pronounced it would be a really good scent, but much like the Arlington, it's so subtle that it's almost unidentifiable. The D.R. Harris "Almond" is a fantastic scent, and not too subtle at all.

** After originally being a little dissapointed in the Merkur "FUTUR", I'm really starting to get the hang of it and as a result, I'm getting some really top quality shaves. This rivals my Merkur Slant in terms of BBS. I have it set at 3.0 and the resulting shaves are AWESOME!!! A little bit of Osage Rub after a FUTUR shave, and my face is all set for the Dog Days of Summer.

Not impressed with the soap. Seemed it was picky about the brush. Finally got the decent lather with the Shavemac but took a bit of time. Then when I thought th elather was good I applied to face and after a couple of minutes it was dry. Trust me I used plenty of water building up slowly. but the lather just did not last long. I'll try it again next time to make sure but I am not impressed. Other than that sweet BBS as always.

Thanks to a kind member on B&B, I got a sampler of the Ted Pella blades. The GEM shave was interesting, I had to fuss around more to get BBS-closeness because I didn't want to J-hook with it, but I also got much less irritation from the fussing around than I would with a DE. Will have to repeat shave with it and see how it works out. My main problem with it is I have no idea how to get under the nose effectively to lop off those whiskers.

Result: 4.5/5.0 I wasn't happy when I tried the Cade cream a few months ago a couple of times. So I set it aside. I went back to it today and immediately doubled the cream amount and used a big dense brush. I have changed my lathering technique since then and I got it to work fine today. I can see though this is not a cream to conserve with. I had enough for 4 passes plus I shaved my armpits. :D I have to work around a ingrown bump I got from the HD/Supermax combo I used a few days ago. Right in the middle of my neck on the left side. Hopefully that will be gone by the weekend. I posted my oral care items today. It's what I have been using for about a month now. Have a great weekend!

Scent was like a time machine, taking me back to my parent's old house where I grew up and seeing the Old Spice bottle on their dresser top, with the hexagonal stopper lid and all. I know everyone says Old Spice changed its scent some years ago, but man, this stuff smells JUST like I remember. ::mat

Performance was middle of the road for me. Good lather, decent cushion, etc.

This morning is TSD stuffs! (Well, a cream at least... or maybe the soap... :D)

I see what all the hoopla is about!!!!!! The Erasmic Shaving cream was fantastic. If the soap is as good I can't wait to get my hands on a tube and a puck. The razor had been laying around in a drawer. I pulled it out earlier and gave it a few laps on the 8k and 12k and BAM!!!!! Smooth !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was 98% BBS on 2 passes. Few touch up strokes to get to BBS. Great start to my week long vacation:D

Tried the "ATG one pass" method with the GEM. Didn't get rid of all the whiskers on the neck, but did a passable job on the rest of the face. If I'm rushed for a shave in the morning, I have a new weapon in my arsenal. It helps I have a very light-coloured beard.
