Well, maybe not so bloody;) My name is Steve and I'm in Mentor, Ohio, just East of Cleveland..I'm totally new to real wet shaving and would like to thank those that have thrown advice my way..
Armed with this valuable knowledge, gathered from this and other forum's, I stopped into my local Crabtree & Evelyn, and Art of Shaving, this morning...came away with a lighter wallet, and a bag of goodies...Dunno if I did good or not, the C&E Best Badger Brush seems to be a good newbie brush..I also came away with some samples from them..
Couldn't leave without throwing some money at AOS, as they looked like they needed the bidness hehe.
Couldn't wait to come home and try my new goods out..Have to say, had a very uneventful shave, which I consider good...I figure once I perfect the foaming process, I'll get a Merkur HD, which AOS sells...Until then, I'll use up the rest of my Gillette Fusion cartridges :scared003
The shave was ok...Don't really know what I'm doing yet, I tried to do something slightly resembling a method shave...Surprisingly, my neck came away unscathed..no irritation at all..Need to work on my upper lip though..didn't get a very close shave there...
All in all, a pleasant experience..here's me goodies...unfortunately, I have a feeling this is just the beginning LOL. Thanks again to all that gave advice..

Excellent picture BTW. You did great with that crabtree and evelyn brush. For the money, it's one of the best you can get... if not THE best.

Steve, congratulations on what sounds like a successful wetshave :happy088
Looks like a good kit to start with. Get some good practice with that stuff, perfect your technique, and then have fun experimenting.
Enjoy :D

I think you'll enjoy this. I used an Art of Shaving soap this morning (the Lemon) and it worked great. Welcome.

Hey gang, thanks for the replies. You know, now that I look at the two brushes I got, the aos brush looks a lot like the c&e brush..at least from a size standpoint.
Never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait to shave tomorrow LOL. I'm hoping my face can handle continued wet shaving..so far, so good. Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Hey Sparky, thanks...My wife think's I'm insane, getting all worked up about taking pictures of shaving stuff LOL...Wait, I think she may be right :D..
Photography is one of my hobbies, I guess shaving could be added to that list, now.

I believe that Edwin Jagger is the major source, if not the only source, of brushes for AOS and C&E.
That grade of hair (pure/best), however, is one of my favorites....if you end up liking it too I think you will welcome the variety you have there in handle-type

Your face will give you all the feedback you need, and if you get roughed up, don't hesitate to take a day off to regroup ;)

Good to have onboard Steve. What soap/cream are you using or did I miss that somewhere?
I saw the word "foaming" but was unsure if you meant can stuff or soap/cream.
Welcome!!!

Hi Scorpio, thanks to you and the others for the warm welcome. It's Art of Shaves lavender shave cream. I also purchased their shave oil, which they recommend you apply before the cream.
I think I'm going to try the sample that Crabtree & Evelyn gave me, tomorrow. It's their "Nomad Shave Cream". I'm always open to any advice, as I'm totally new to this. Thanks again.

Their Lavender shaving cream is one of the highly regarded creams in the market. When you get a chance take a pic of your lather. This way we can see how it is coming along and give advise if needed. You are looking for a merengue consistency.

Hi Mottern, you are familiar with Geneva, ey? That's about 45 minutes East of me. If my memory serves me correct, its a little town with small shops, almost resembling a small fair (i.e. game rooms, rides, etc.)? I think it was also known as a hangout for the Hells Angels??
Not 100% on all that, been a long time since I've been out that way.. Anyway, thanks for the welcome..

For what its worth popular razors tend to be popular for a reason. I did a poll on another forum asking what the best razor is, and the two leading ones were the Heavy Duty and the Super Speed. Interesting enough the Super Speed edged out the Heavy Duty. Might do the same thing here on these forums. Thought you might like to know about the poll since you are considering the heavy duty.

Hmm..I'll have to look for a super speed. I've got my HD ready to go..just waiting for my blade sampler to arrive, from westcoast shaving. Thanks again for the advice.
