Tough one.

Fast Food; Usually I go with McD, but Burger King and Sonic have very good burgers.

Haven't tried In and Out.

No mention of Five Guys yet. hmmm.....

Full service dining; Red Robin or Fuddrucker's.

OK, for full service I'm going to have to go with Fuddrucker's.

There is a cafe about a mile form the house though that sells 1/2 lb burgers that are outstanding when the day cook is on his game but that only happens 1 out of 3 times.

Home:
1/2 lb 80/20 chuck burger gently spread out, add salt, pepper and shredded or crumbled cheese of choice. Mix gently and form patty putting a dimple in the middle. GRILL IT! to medium. Add extras of choice.

Fast food: Whataburger. double meat w/ cheese and jalapeņos!

Not fast: Fuddruckers. Haven't tried Red Robbin yet, but my wife said she didn't like it.

Local joint: The Little Red Wagon, Round Rock, TX. Little hole in the wall place that turns out a great burger for very little $.

I think you want to go to a Red Robin that is corporate owned, not franchised.

Went to a RR in AZ, it was awful, and by the next week RR corporate had pulled the restaurant's franchise agreement. That bad.

We just started getting Red Robins around here. The burgers themselves are mediocre. Their schtick is all the different toppings they have.

I think Friendly's does a decent burger, but I guess that's mostly a New England chain.

Well its the most simplest thing in the world..and takes like 4 minutes for a complete burger.but i cannot tell.

Funny thing....he has a whole process to make them perfectly round...and one day hes showing me, and my mom says....what are you doing..His pet name for her is Ugly....and he tells her....Ugly....if you needed to know i wouldve asked you over here...so get out of here....haha

I still laugh at that.

For fast food: I don't know if there are any of these outside California, and they are rapidly disappearing here -- Foster's Freeze makes a good, tasty, greasy burger. Excellent corn dog, too.

Haven't tried any of the sit-down chain burgers. Locally here in San Francisco, not much really stands out except maybe Joe's Cable Car (http://joescablecar.com/).

I've been to a few Foster's Freezes. It's definitely hit or miss.

A concept I'm sadly also familiar with only in the theoretical sense...:ashamed001

(But that doesn't change the importance of trying the life-alteringly good burgers at In-N-Out...:D)

Umm....I'm on the East Coast though, and In-N-Out is only located in CA, NV, and AZ. Seems like that requires a "vacation".

My private jet is out of gas. :ashamed001
