I can shave WTG and XTG with no problems. I can even go ATG everywhere on my face except the area right under my chin and down the front of my neck.
My prep doesn't change, my straight razor is sharp.
I am able to go ATG with no irritation if I haven't done so for a couple of days but if I try to do it on a daily basis, by the 3rd day, I get sore, irritated skin. The first day is fine, the second is OK but not as good and the 3rd day is lousy.
Is this just an indication of sensitive skin or should I be looking for something else? It's just that area and only if I do ATG every day as opposed to every 2 or 3 days.

Chin is a hard area, it seems that stubble is more in that area and skin is sensative.
I just relater and re-shave a few times WTG, seems to work for me.

I think you need to play around a bit.
Have you tried Bull-frogging?

 I'm not sure I know what that is.

Bull Froggin is kinda putting your chin down.and sticking out your neck. THere is a great video of this by Mantic on you tube, under the advanced techniques post.

OK, thanks. I'll look for it
With my never ending quest to get BBS shave, I concentrated on my chin area more than I should have with multiple passes ATG and probably a little too much pressure. I have decided not to do ATG on my chin area anymore and settle with less than perfect but very acceptable shaves. WTG and XTG is fine for me now. I'll have my chin "healing" for a while, ;)

i was gonna suggest either bullfrog or maybe some stretching. I have about a dozen "moves" that I employ.
the aforementioned bullfrog (neck)
the stretch (many parts)
the puffer fish lower lip
the puffer fish upper lip
the puffer fish cheeks
the pig nose (to clear the area near the nostril)
the ear tug (to get the area inferior to the lobe)
the frankenstein (this one is hard to explain, but I thrust out my chin, exposing an underbite, causing my neck to flatten out. It gives me a flat plane to shave)
It seems a little ridiculous, but whatever works, right?
Anyone else have any funny "moves"?

I've seen postings by a few str8 shavers who do the ATG finish on that area with a DE or an injector. Might give it a try.

+1. I can do ATG with the Feather ACD-N in that area but simpler to just use a DE.

How is your prep. I have the same problem, and what I have done for the past few months is get up in the morning, apply a hefty dose of olive oil to the to be shaved area. Ill wait for maybe 5 minutes, shower (letting the water hit my face in order to soak the area), then do the usual lathering routine.
The olive oil really seems to make a difference to me.
