I am hardly new to double edge shaving. I have joined up here to learn as much as possible. As a consequence I will say little on this forum outside questions now and then. Have been doing this for years, have a 41 Super Speed, Merkur 1904 Clasic and a Merkur Future. I have tried in blades: Sputnik, Merkur, Personna, Russian Gillette, Euro Gillette, Dinosaur, Super Dionsaur, Mem, Astra Supirior, Astra Karmick, Treet Special Blue, Treet Dura Sharp, Sharp, Isreali Personna, Feather, Derby, Dorco Platinum, Wilkinson Sword Clasic Black Label, Wilkinson Clasic White Label, Wilkinson Economie, Super Max Platinum, Super Max Super Stainless, Sharp Stainless and Balaka Carbon.

I have come here to learn as much as possible from all.

I have recently decided to tell my shave tale for those who are interested, some say confession is good for the sole, so here goes:

I started this probably at the age of 13. I looked at all of the different shave options and got scared by the capability to cut yourself with some of the razors out there. Thus I selected the razor that makes it the hardest to cut yourself, the electric . For the next twenty-five years I never once got a decent shave out of the things. Had at least one braun, a norelco and a couple of Remingtons over the years. Got an F when it came to shaving. Still I held on.

One year I went to the beach with my sister and her family when I needed new blades for the electric. At that point I realized how hard it was to find the blades and exactly how much a month I was paying for them. ::ban. Somehow paying approximatly $10 a month and getting an F for shaving seemed like a raw deal.

So I looked under my sink and found two razors which were sent to me free, a Fusion and a Mach 3. I tried the fusion for a week. My neck looked like it had been beaten with a wip and got a D- for approximatly $3.50 a month. Better then the electric but still not good enough. Tried the older Mach 3, not as much irritation, now it was only the left side of my neck not the whole thing, D grade and price went no where. Next I purchased a Sensor and tried that. Irritation was still there but still less then the Mach 3, C- letter grade and same price.

It was at this point where I noticed the trend the older the technology the better the shave was. So I went seriously old school. Enter a Merkur 1904 Clasic, different blades, different techniques and different hardware, everything is different. Best ever, B+, wiped the floor with the cartridge razors and man look at the price tag $.15 per blade, thats a dream come true. But surely there is perfect. Enter the 1971 Gillette Super Speed. Shaving grade = A. :D. Ordered a 1950s Super Speed, this appears to be the holly grail of shaving. Will update as time permits as time goes on.
