I was able to use JoAnna's cream without any irritation at all. I think maybe there was some residual edt or something left on my face the first time. I have heard alot about the Musgo cream and finally thanks to Mike I was able to use some. Indeed it is very good with a very clean and crisp scent.

It will be a day of rest. Tried an ATG today with my straight...and completely shred up my neck. When i sweat today...it burned my neck and face :(

It will be a day of rest. Tried an ATG today with my straight...and completely shred up my neck. When i sweat today...it burned my neck and face :(

Instead of going ATG try to shave using a pattern similar to this < when going ATG. This will be much less damaging to your neck and with practice you will be able to achieve BBS just the same. The right side of my neck grows E-W so using a straight here is a peril to say the least. I use this pattern to achieve BBS on that side. Once you reduce the stubble one easy ATG pass should be enough.

Great shave. The Clubman cream has a cooling effect that was very refreshing in this morning heat. The menthol fades away fast leaving a clean scent. Not bad at all.

Result: OK, it was a 4.7/5.0 shave day. Go figure. I thought it was going to be a disaster the way it was going. I used the Ogallala shave soap as a bath soap as a said I would but then decided to use it as my shave soap too. Why not? I mixed it with the C&E Nomad cream to help it out. Nice scent combo it turned out to be. The Ogallala was true to form and the lather sucked. It even killed the Nomad cream. Nice lather goes on and poof! It disappears. Arrgghh... not only that by it was tugging the Open Comb. The blade was day three so maybe that was it. I went through 2 passes that way and then got desperate and put some Nomad right on the brush and lathered it on my face. Much better. Saved the shave and my face. I cleaned everything up and then prayed I didn't create a Martian Landscape out of my face. Slapped some Ogallala AS on it and looked. Damn, I lucked out. Not only that, it was BBS all the way. Phew. Shave God was smiling on me today.

a) the shaving soap sucks. I didn't get any good lather from it but I know its ability to soak the whiskers, the slickness and the general performance should be great. Which only leaves us with option:
b) the Russian Gillette Platinum is the worst blade I've ever had in my entire life. It didn't really tug along, but five minutes after shaving my face looked like a massacre. I'd need some Axe oil now to numb my face...

Anyway, I tossed the blade and will try it again with a new blade from the pack tomorrow.

Scent of this soap is great. I followed Seth's advice and held in under hot water for 3-4 min. and suddenly the entire bathroom bloomed with the scent of tobacco & bergamot. There are definite tickle your nose black pepper notes and just a hint of vanilla and what I think is lavender.

My mom had was on the market for 2 days , friday and saturday in total 20 hours selling her old Tupperware collection. I gave her some BC items !

Its the shave soap Klaus TOSS IT ! The La Riana Sucks tha Bomb.. the version I have lathers better now but seriously lacks the ability to keep the lather for longer then 30 seconds on your face. this product sells quite a lot the vendor told me but I cant believe its getting so many sales and the version he makes now is atleast better since I told him to change some ingredients but its still da bag. at the moment the version I have is about as good as the Lime preshave from Musgo Real also not to be used as a stand alone soap but great for pre soaking /super lather making so use the Riana like that a pre-shave.

The vendor gave me as a tip use VERY litte water on these soaps/brush perhaps that helps. I dont think the blades are bad.

sorry you had to go thru that you could have asked me been there done that have the T-Shirt. I hope the VGH Bowl will make up for ya disaster..

A superb shave. I attribute this to two things, putting glycerine in the water used to soak my brush (a la Trader Joe, thanks bud!), and trying out J-hooks on the neck where I get all that grief if I just do repeated ATG passes. The lather was superb, and the shave equally so.

I am just sad to report that my Cade has turned into an unscented soap. Must have bought some old stock at the L'Occitane store. It performs great, but I loved the smell when it was new.

From what I read on the German wetshaving board the soap should actually be good - except for the lather. I'll try the Russian blades once more tomorrow and then we'll know for sure if it's the blade or the soap :)
