Picked up a bottle yesterday and used it today.

A very nice light scent, "sporty" is indeed how I would describe it. Beyond that, I'm lousy at assigning scents to things. It's not citrusy, that's all I can say. A much nicer summer AV scent, and with all the normal Velva goodness (menthol, glycerine, bragging rights :D) included.

They best be stocking this in the US very soon, or heads will roll

E-mail I sent to Aqua Velva last week:

I'm a long time user of Aqua Velva aftershave lotion. I started using it when I joined the Navy in 1973 and I've been using it ever since. I have a question: When is the green colored Aqua Velva Original Sport going to sold in the USA? I hear it's available in Canada, and it's driving me crazy that it's not being sold in the states.

Response from Aqua Velva:

Thank you for contacting us regarding Aqua Velva. We welcome all comments about our products.

The only version available in the U.S. is Aqua Velva Ice Sport which is blue.

Thank you for contacting us.

Sincerely,

I guess they forgot about the Classic they offer as well.

What great customer service. Burgess Merideth would be turning over in his grave if he knew.

I think when they said "only version" they meant only version of the Sport.

That said, yes their customer service department is lax.

During prohibition people would sneak truckloads of Canadian whisky across the border into the United States. I foresee a day in the near future when truckloads of Green Original Sport Aqua Velva will be snuck across the border too! The revenuers (probably already on the Aqua Velva payroll) will be waiting for them though, ready to confiscate the aftershave and keep it for themselves.

Why isn’t Original Sport on the black-market yet? Very strange… I smell a conspiracy theory coming on.

Why would Aqua Velva USA want to destabilize the Canadian aftershave market? Do they fear the popularity of Boosters aftershaves that much?

There will likely be a made-for-TV movie about this someday: “The Unshaveables”.

This is the best that this person, a "Senior Consultant", can do? Tell you something you already know, and miss the point of the question entirely? If he'd just said "we have no plans to offer it in the U.S.", at least you could be assured that he had actually read your e-mail. I'll bet this guy makes 3 times as much money as I do, too.

The makers sent me an email a while back. I replied, and got the exact same response listed here, and nothing else ever came.

I received a bottle of Aqua Velva Original Sport (yes, the green stuff) in the mail today thanks to The Shave Den Store. I’ll use it tomorrow morning.

In all probability, this is the only bottle of Original Sport in the country of Japan. This is a historic event on par with Commodore Perry’s arrival in Japan on July 8th, 1853.

Green maybe. I forgot a bottle of blue in miyajima. My guess is there's at least one really nice smelling ryokan owner. :ashamed001

I was surprised that the green had as much cooling as the blue.

I tried the green today...and well....im not fond of it. Its on the lower tier of my my AV rotation.

As it stands.......AV Sport (Blue), Classic AV, AV Musk, AV Sport (Green)

I prefer the original myself, but the lady prefers the sport. I guess it's all in what you like. I can vouch that it performs equally well as the original, and i'm enjoying the ability to "mix it up" now.

Okay, I tried the green today, and it was good. For a citrus scent, I think they got it just right. I like it better than AV Musk, but not better than the AV Classic Blue. It was worth the initial investment to try it, but I don’t think I’ll continue to buy it unless it’s introduced in the States and I can buy it at a more reasonable price.

+1 as with many things we try...well use it till its no more. I just done care much for the smell, but it works superbly.
