I just received a Gillette Richwood for one of my uncles. With a little research, this was made in the 1920's. It looks like it was gold plated but there is very little left. The outside of the box is in fair shape. The printing on the inside is "good". I haven't cleaned and sanitized it yet. Not sure what to polish it with.

nice razor, Paul, tell us how it cleans up!
I for myself experienced a miracle today: I've been looking for the (since the beginning of this year) discontinued "Sir Irisch Moos" shaving cream and shaving soap for a long, long time - I've probably searched over 20 or 30 stores by now but not a single one had even a single tube or stick left.
Today I went with my parents to a big department store in a city about 30 minutes from where we live.
And there they were: At the end of a rack, hidden beneath all the goop in the can and 500-bladed razors and whatnot else: three tubes of the shaving cream and two shaving sticks. Now there are none left :D
I also bought while I was there:
- 100grams of Twinings Vintage Darjeeling tea in a metal tub
- 200grams of Twinings English Breakfast tea in a metal tub
- some minor stuff (chewing gum, household soap...)
all in all a VERY successful day ::

Not sure what to polish it with.
Try some MAAS (available at Wal-Mart or most places like that) or Flitz metal polish.
Might need a toothbrush or a Q-tip in the detailed areas.

I've had good results using Mother's polish which may be similar to MAAS. The Q-tips are ready! Thanks!

Cleaned the Richwood with Scubbie Bubbles and then boiled it in water vinegar mixture. polished it with Mother's polish and though not perfect, it looks good. the razor is currently in a bottle of Barbercide and I'll try it out later this week. Now what blade to use in this.

well, better saddle the attack horse then, Jeff, someone whispered to me the soap still needs improvement ;)
@Paul: Try either a Derby or an Israeli Personna with it. If you don't have any of those ... well, then post what you've got :D

Du bist 100% bullseye Klaus,
there is improvement in the soap lathers really quick ! major improvement over previous versions but the lather will dissapear after about 30-40 seconds so to me its a nice preshave soap not a shave soap. similar responds like the Musgo Real lime preshave soap. VERY similar very slick. still its missing an ingredient im sure and I dont believe you didnt use olive oil..he must have used it still.

From top to bottom
1- Gillette Tech
2-Superspeed
3-Superspeed
4- Gillette Thin Handle.
The tech is the only 3 piece so easy to identify the golden toned one.
Nr2 is some superspeed aswell but it probably has a special name by itself its not your regular superspeed. sorry dont OWN the Gillette Collectors Bible.

Shopped today and found a Bio Darjeeling Black Tea at the ALDI !:drool:drool and Oh Yeah it tastes great all you need is one tea spoon of the stuff hot water on top in a cup wait 2-3 min depending how strong you want it great taste a bag of this set me back about 5 euros.
by accident I think I got another new soap from Italy to try , well I shall give this one away .
From Parker Razors 34 razors. Model R22 and R95. these models are redesigned from ground up. I could def. feel the improved weight .
Got one razor for Free from Mr Parker to test the R95 out for him.
feels VERY familiar to have a LONG handle in the hand. im pretty impressed he listened but I got some more advice for him.
excuse the bad pics I must make a new one they do no justice to the new models.Parker claims they are now heavier then a Merkur HD , I cant tell I dont have a Merkur HD in my hand..
Really nice haul Jay.

Im stocking up for the Apocalypse ;)
10 bottles in reserve.
We went to WallyMart for a few things....sniff the Blue SkinBracer (Id heard it smelled like Polo Green - IT DID NOT !!) and found the AV musk for $3 a bottle. Had to buy it all :D
