Im just wondering if any of you folks have one of these beautiful blades. I see a member at TOP that has several.....cheapest ive seen is 550. I would LOVE to get one...but i dunno.seems a bit expensive, but they are handmade and of top quality.

I wouldn't dare buy one with my skill level. However, Lynn Abrams sells them if you ever want to find a place to get one.

TOP is a reference to "The Other/Old Place" and is a common way to point to other wet shaving forums at the web.. Most commonly used in relation to Badger & Blade forum..

I think they are nice too...bit out of my pocket...skill level or not but i can always dream, the razor makers on here make pretty awesome razors and when I am able to afford it I will be looking for something personal but at this side of the atlantic....
at this time I am lucky enough to own razors that have come from both Joe and Bill and I love them....(the razors...lol...)great work...

But like an earlier work said a good investment appreciates.

If going on ease of honing, how long a blade keeps an edge, and of course shaving ability, I just don't see why a Maestro Livi razor is priced $200-300 more expensive than a Thiers-Issard, for example. There are also custom razors by Bill Ellis or Robert Williams that are very highly regarded. The scales are stunning but still.. that's a pretty penny. Granted, I haven't used a Maestro Livi razor but is it that much better?

Why not just say Badger and Blade? Is there a problem? Guess I'll have to check them out. Are there others I should know about?

By naming them the Others get hits at internet search engines. Besides this there is no problem.

Seems a bit petty, but okay.

Sometimes, the old fart just has a hard time keeping up. I know he just finished some restorations/honings for over 60+ razors for different folks.

Word has it that he will have some dandies on the workbench relatively soon. Relatively, needing a somewhat loose interpretation. :D

Just a little friendly competition. It's common practice between related forums of any kind. Many people here are members of multiple forums.

Bill is a member here, just ask him. He has some nice stuff, but it sells out fast because of his reputation.
There are Master regrinds available for less, around $300 I think. Lynn does not show them on his web site, you have to ask.
While they are good looking razors, I find a 5/8s is what I really like, and the Master's razors are all larger.

I have TIs and Maestro’s and find very little difference between the two in the shave. ::duel They handle a little differently and Maestros have better blade geometry but for the price I will buy TIs from now on. Have you seen the new steal TI is coming out with? :bounce

I love the Maestro Razors still. They are elegant and great shavers. The Maestro has set the standard for modern day custom straight razors and each is a work of art. Check out StraightRazorDesigns.com.

I have a Maestro Livi regrind, which I bought from Lynn. I have not used it yet as I both have not gotten to it with all the razors I have purchased and also for the fact that I'm a little scared that it might be the only razor I'll want to use after I do try it.;)
