Nice Picture. The resident expert on here is Lyrt but I have not seen him in a while. There are one or two others that are quite good to that can answer you better.

Great picture! The colors of the clouds adds a lot to that picture, IMO.

Thats exactly what i was going for. I wanted to bring out the pink in the clouds. I dunno...still doesnt look as crip to me, but thats kinda what i ended up with trying to get the clouds that color.

Great picture, I like the clouds, and the whole top half of the picture is superb.....but if you are looking for constructive criticism....the lower half (with the buildings) looks over-saturated. Except for the tallest building, that looks great.

I COMPLETELY agree with you Joe. I just cant figure out how to keep the top half nice.and undersaturate the bottom half.

Black building in the middle of this picture is the new office building I work in:

Building under construction to far left is the "Trump Towers" and to the right of that, the "Wrigley Building"

Not to sell myself short, but My PS skills are very underdeveloped, so all of my pictures are untouched at this point.........but I'm pretty sure you need to break the pictures into "layers" and that will allow you to edit them seperately.

I dont even own Photoshop...haha..some rinky dink program.
I wanted to give this pic a Colorized old time movie feel. Its the Manhattan Bridge.....made popular in Once Upon A Time in America.

Also took a look at the first one - nothing artificial, no painting around, just playing with the existing colours by means of color-shifting and working with saturation, brightness and contrast - separately on the sky and on the ground. :D

I gave a really quick touchup in PS to your original and this is what I came up with. I did a REALLY bad selection job as you can probably see along the horizon. If you like it, I can give it another go and actually try getting a good selection.

New. I basically lightened up the buildings a bit to "de saturate them, and brought out the sky emphasis.

Can you post the original and touched up side by side? I'd really like to compare the two.

Ah ok. I thought what you posted was the original. IMO, you did a pretty good job of modifying it from what you just posted.
I usually go with 3 main ingredients to touching up a photo. Since you dont have PS, you might not have some of these. Keep in mind too that these three things come from the fact that I am a Graphic Communications major, so everything I do is an attempt to get it to print, in whatever process correctly.
1. Levels - Make your light and dark points consistent with the photo. See how I brought the slider over to the left in the light area of the levels dialogue.
13381341
2. Curves - make the curves match what type of photo you have (high key, low key etc.) Here, the cures were pretty good. Since this is a pretty low key photo though, I bumped up the low end of the curve to bring out the shadows.
13391340
3.Unsharp Mask - this will bring out detail. Use it sparingly though so you dont create halos around objects. Also as a side point...NEVER use the sharpening tool...unless you are trying for a specific effect. To enhance detail, always use unsharp mask.
