If you're looking to try something different, you should try the Degree with aloe vera. Ever since I tried it, it's all I've used. It's an anti-perspirant though, so I don't know if that counts as the thread title clearly says- Deodorant

Williams Deo ( my last bottle, some how some bottles got pinched by others..now who would they be ? )
- VGH DEO - Extreme great stuff as good as the a/s spray but for your armpitts
you get whiffs of VGH through out the day the VGH marketing department should kill or shoot their manager for this stuff to be so rare.
-Aramis DEO.
-Gravity by Axxe (pre shave guru era ) (tons left)
-8*4 Wave for Men :drool Tons left from pre shave guru era totally forgot I had it in a my closet. man TJ if I knew it was there id send one of this with the previous box you had. VERY fresh very Sportive scent. I think I got 30 bottles of each still left.. not for sale. emergency stock.with global heating you cant have enough DEO.. I find using a "deoderant" to be quite useless. All it really does is provide an odor, without any perspiration protection.
Therefore, I find that I have to use an Ant-perspirant/deoderant. The best one I've found, that is a really good anti-perspirant AND has a really nice, clean, fresh scent is "Pit Boss" by Jack Black! Most anti-perspirants work pretty well, so it's the scent is what makes the selling point. If I was forced to use a deoderant, I think I'd use Toms of Maine Lavender.

If you "come-off" being an antiperspirant user, and switch to deodorant user....you will sweat like a stuffed pig and smell like a wildabeast for a while.....but eventually after all the toxin buildup is released it will calm down to a controllable level
If you decide to make the switch, I recommend you do it in the winter

Well, I didn't think I'd do this, being an Old Spice fan and all ... but ...
I've dropped Old Spice as my deodorant of choice. Awesome scent but it provides absolutely zero protection against underarm odor. I couldn't even get 5 hours out of it. I'd smell my pits 5 hours after application just to see if it was doing it's job and NOPE - it's sleeping on the job! This testing went on for a couple of weeks so I definately gave it a chance. Had to fire Old Spice and bring in something new.
I've tried so many deodorants that I think I can honestly say that I've tried all of them (at least all the ones that are available in the local grocery or drug store). Up until now, I have found NO deodorant that completely protects against odor for a full 8 hours - it simply just didn't exist. I would always have to re-apply later in the day - without fail. Until I tried this ......
Mitchum Smart Solid. This stuff is unbelievably effective. Lasts 8 hrs and then some. I can go into the following morning, smell my underarms and STILL not smell any odor! That, to me, is unbelievable performance. Geez, I sound like a commercial. I finally found a deodorant that does it's job - I can sleep now! There's no white dust or flakiness with this solid either ... it goes on totally smooth. This stuff ROCKS.
Highly recommended. Although, deodorant is definately a YMMV kind of thing.

Yeah, I think that 5 hours is probably the most that stuff can do. A shame really, cuz it smells great.
What you probably could do though is put that Mitchum on (unscented?) then throw a swipe of the Old Spice on for the flava ;)

I thought maybe the stick was bad or i forgot to clean my pits in the shower, so I bought a fresh one and reshowered making sure to clean the pits fine. Upon sniffing out of the shower, pits smelled clean. I applied some Old Spice, and Ill be if it didn't smell like B.o. once again.

See the thing is you sweat MORE when you use antiperspirant. Because everything is prevented from coming out the result once it does is much worse than if you were using a deodorant. The body is supposed to sweat... so let it.
Sort of merging thoughts from the old 'Dress like a gentleman' thread, but one thing I do to prevent the look is to make sure I always wear an under shirt. It truly makes a HUGE difference, plus my good shirts last much longer and look better.

I couldn't agree more! Besides, sweat itself doesn't smell. It starts smelling because of germs working in it after a while. Therefore I take a shower ever now and then, whether I need it or not. :D
I prefer this way of preventing excessive odor instead of using chemicals to interfere with natural body functions like sweating.

I dont see phenoxyethanol as being a bad thing considering its just a phenol and an alcohol which are both in plenty of things we consume on a daily basis. As much as I'd like to trust the crystal deoderants I just cant. I stick with the old spice red zone soft solid in any scent better than my pits normally smell.

Tom's of Maine Calendula or Unscented -- both work amazingly well, though the unscented kind uses hops instead of lemongrass and sage...and it works up a little burn and irritation sometimes, but nothing extreme if I put it out of my mind for a bit
If I know I'm going to be sweating profusely, like if I'm playing a show or going to be in a humid place for a long time, I'll use some kind of unscented Mitchum.

I'm a recent convert to crystal stuff. Recent enough (3-4 months) that I've only tired one brand, Crystal Body Deodorant. It comes in a short cylindrical form in a plastic screw top container. It's 100% ammonium alum crystal. They had a brand called Thai that was a rock form in a drawstring bag, but this was slightly cheaper and I thought the round shape would be easier to handle. I got it at Whole Foods, but it seems to be spreading to lots of other stores. As long as it's 100% alum, I don't think it matter what brand you use. They also had some Thai spray, which was alum dissolved in water. I didn't see why I should pay for the water. Also it probably wouldn't last as long.
FYI, shaving alum is potassium. I've been advised that ammonium alum is harsher and not recommended after shaving.
I've always had problems with minor scratches healing. They rarely get infected and even then, only minor, but they can literally take months to heal. And even a slight scratch leaves a scar. I always attributed it to having diabetes. Well, about a week ago, I walk straight in to a stiff dry tree branch. I never saw it. luckily I still can't compare anything to a a sharp stink in the eye. But it did catch my nose and left a two inch scratch running down the side and small scratch just above my upper lip. I cleaned it with peroxide (ouch!) and put styptic on it to stop the bleeding (OUCH!). Couldn't get a band aid to stick.
Thinking about the antibacterial nature of the crystal deo, I tried applying it the scratch at night. It could be placebo, but it sure seems like it's healing faster, and with much less scaring. Crystal also has a foot spray on their web page. Maybe I'll get another bar to apply to my athlete's feet to see if that helps.

I've also got a sample of SCS's aluminum-free deodorant that I'll be trying soon.
He's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

I am still using alum. Technically not a deodorant.

I've been advised that ammonium alum is
harsher and not recommended after shaving.
[snip]
I just got the Thai crystal at Whole Foods. Either it's been reformatted, or I was wrong about it's shape. Inside the drawstring bag is an oval shaped block. I thought it was a more jagged shape.
Also, I looked at their web site and the Thai Crystal is potassium, not ammonium. The Crystal Body deodorant is ammonium. The KMF Liquid Rock is potassium too.
Does anyone know which is better for deodorant?

I’ve been using the Old Spice Classic Deodorant Stick since about 1970. Of course it wasn’t called “Classic” back then. I’ve tried a few others, but I always come back to the stick! So, undoubtedly it will be discontinue in the near future; just like everything else that is perfectly good the way it is.

That sucks :(
Glad to know you found a replacement that works for you, though!

I'm also impressed with Tabac deo spray--great scent, just like the other Tabac stuff, and very effective.
