Well....turns out that what i thought was normal is a bit dehydrated. 6 out of my 7 tubs of Coates is a bit on the dry side. One of them is super soft and fluffy. My question is, do i need to rehydrate this stuff in the tub, or can i just scoop out a dab each time i shave. I did that today with some almond and didnt notice a big difference. I was at B&B and they were talking about rehydrating the tubs. I just dont see why you would need to do that if your adding water to it anyway when you mix the leather.

Nah, just lather it and shave, bro......you're right: If you're going to add water, just add it "hot" and when you're ready to go

I was kinda bumbed out about it. Someone had asked me if it was dehydrated....but not knowing what it was like i never thought it was...just thought it was really thick. Then i got my Tee Tree in...first two tubs were like my previous four. Then the last one i opened was like whip cream...then i realized....that i was shafted

I see. You may have to send me a few tubs for testing

Yeah, that was me that asked you, over at TOP. I was surprised by your answer, since most people were reporting that the tubs had dried out somewhat. But I don't think you got shafted.. you still got the cream you wanted, it's just not the fluffy consistency it was originally. If it's working for you without having to re-hydrate it, then stick with what works! ;)

Actually, the ones that look like whipped cream are suspect. You can send them all to me and I will dispose of them according to rigorous safety protocols. :D

I re-hydrated a couple tubs I received a few months ago, the cream was pretty firm but fluffed up quite nicely with a little purified water.

It wasn't quite paste like, but the consistency was much better after the H2O was added, and I figured it may increase the shelf life a bit as I have quite a few creams in the rotation now :o
