Yeah....i was going to pick up 1 of each..and the guy i talked to (manager or owner) was like....you know once this is gone its gone. I didnt want four tubs of cream at 37 a piece, but like i said before, if i want to sell it im sure i wont have trouble. He said he was having a heck of a time with people in England and had to raise the price from 29 to 37 due to shipping problems. There are still 2 almond and 2 sandalwoods over there.

Yeah, the Coates will be a denser cream than the Taylor's of current stock... the Coates is definitely not "fluffy."
2 more Almond and 2 more Sandalwood, eh? Must... resist....

Those are some good prices. I have the Pollena Lider "Active" (blue tube) cream, and it performs a lot like my JM Fraser's cream. The scents are nothing alike at all, but the "slickness" and almost glistening consistency of the lather is very similar.

no comparison at all. The bowl-stuff is for the trash (I don't even want to call it a soap as, technically speaking, it ain't one) - but the blue stick is for the shrine :D
And no, it's not the same formula - they're not even remotely related (except for the brand, that is ;) )

Thanks Guys,
It did cost a little more and is bigger than we need, but the quality and build of this machine should be worth it. It is very solid and weighs something like 23 lbs. The manual says the burs should not need to be replaced until 200 kilos or 660 lbs. have gone through the machine. We currently use about 1 - 1.5 lbs. per week, so it should be quite a while before we need to worry about replacing the burs.
I hope it works well, I need to buy some beans on the way home tonight. ;)

7/8 R. Hendrie Wedge. Looked really nice in the auction, in the hand it would be a good razor for Bill to use when trying to explain the correct usage of the word mint to rogue ebay sellers, as in this does NOT constitute mint!
This razor described as "never been used" has a big chip out of the front end of the spine, some sort of furry growth in the barber's notch (WTF!?!) 2 fleabites in the edge as well as pitting and black tarnish. Also the ding on the front has some black in it that can only be described as rot.
Now this might sound bad, but it does appear that these problems are only affecting the surface. The fleabites should hone out easily, I managed to pull off most of the fluff and the tarnish should be easy to get rid of. There is no active rust, however the chip out of the spine and the associated blackness have me worried.
I'm not blaming the seller, never been used probably refers to the lack of hone wear, and he handles a lot of razors so probably doesn't have time to go over each one in great detail.
Still it's annoying, I'm finally starting to see some more than passable results with my restorations and had some really nice Australian Blackwood set aside for this particular razor.
Sorry for the lengthy post, and lack of pictures, but my girlfriend has a strict policy about shave related discussion, not while she's in the house (her actual words were not while she's in the same county, but I'm not totally whipped:ashamed001) and I need to vent.

My girlfriend's attitude? Thank God for my sake that she doesn't read the forums:eek:
My girlfriend is unquestionably in charge, but that's why the relationship works. She (her name's Mackenzie btw) knows that she's in charge, I know that she's in charge and, most importantly of all, she knows that I know that she's in charge and therefore there is little need for any real displays of power on her part. Although recently a decant of Knize Ten "mysteriously" disappeared after "someone" told me that she hated it, that was rather hostile I thought:rofl.
Anyway, during the week she works as a buyer in London and doesn't get home 'til late, so I'm left to my own shavegeeky devices for the most part, it's a small victory, but a victory nonetheless::

Yesterday:
One puck of L'Occitane Cade shaving soap
One bar of L'Occitane Verbena body soap...kinda fuffy but I notice a difference...none of the oily sticky residue...a very clean scent and a clean feeling...that sounded fuffy
Sample of Cade After Shave Splash...this stuff smells great

Mentolo Aftershave Balm
SuperMax Blades
Treet Blades x2 packs (varieties)
Sputnik Blades
Mentolo Aftershave Balm looks to be one of the best "values" out there in terms of quality & quanitity. For $10, its a pretty good size bottle of balm, and should last quite a while. Not to mention, paraben-free (and low-alcohol, for those who check). Highly recommended :happy088

ordered from Charles Tuesday, at my house on Thursday:
That was a neat contraption for making coffee. However, since caffeine makes my heart skip beats, the thing would have to come with an ambulance and the crew to go with it if I had it in my house.
Speaking of contraptions, Rich, what-ah-ya clean in that thing, anyway?
Oh... and I just got this from Shavemac. Dynamite service and a great brush...

So far, I've been putting jewelry and watches in it and they've been coming out great. I'm going to put the DE razors in it this weekend with a little natural soap scum cleaner. Then give them a quick mineral oil bath. Any suggestion for a really light grease on the threads? Since we have a huge amount of stainless and silver overlay on our horse equipment occasionally, a piece will lie around too long and we need to clean it up for sale. I'll use this to cut back on the elbow grease and I have some Maas on order for the final touches. Your supposed to be able to put pens, brushes and a ton of other things in it.

Well...
Let me qualify this a little. I don't know a great deal about brushes. I'm only one rung above "nada" on that ladder. I even have a Tweezerman that I think is OK.
I'm assuming it's kinda like that teenage boy who just started getting some. In the beginning, it's ALL good. It's only after gaining a bit of experience that you start convulsing over the silvertongues, I mean, silvertips. :D

Yes, but don't forget, I'm comparing apples to apples. The Rooney and Shavemac I have are both fan shaped. Now, I really need to bring the Rooney home and take a side by side picture. Just to torture you of course. :D
Bill, if it feels better than what you have been using and it's what you wanted then you've done well. It's like that $9 bottle of wine. If it tastes like a $30 bottle to you then thats all that counts.

Nice Haul Rick,
I got a 1 pound basket for roasting coffee on my BBQ via the rotiserie, it worked well although I need to buy a new temp gauge that goes to 550+ degrees or so, as I took it a little to dark, it was only a 1/4 pound but worked well.
Will be placing an order at Sweet Maria's soon, what types of coffee did you order Rick?
Also scored a bench hone from Handamerica, and some magnetic backed pieces of leather and films for honing and stroping.

1 tub Vulfix Sandalwood
1/2 tub Vulfix lavender
1 tub eshave citrus
From local purchases
1 bottle Masters Musk aftershave
1 bottle Masters Bay Rum aftershave (at the recommendation of quite a few members)
1 bottle black opal razor bump recovery complex (been looking for this for a while)
and finally, after 3 months of waiting.....
1 SIMPSON MAJOR TRAVEL BRUSH IN SUPER - I recently bought one of these and it ended up being a major shedder. First just a few hairs a shave, then 5-10, then 15-20 and I decided to quit using it. Contacted Simpson, and other than having to wait 3 weeks, they took care of me and sent me another one free of charge. Excellent excellent excellent service from Simpson, didn't even have to send the old one back or provide a proof of purchase. I couldn't be happier.

Even after switching over to wetshaving, I still get the occasional ingrown hair. Not that big of a deal, but after I get one and I've corrected the problem, my skin still stays discolored (eg, a dark spot) for quite a long time.
I'd read that this stuff was good for helping ingrowns AND getting rid of dark spots. I've been looking all over for a local source and finally found one right down the street.
Well, boys... I was anticipating this purchase with good thoughts.
I just got a good gaggle of goodies from Mama Bear. I can't keep from taking off all the lids and smelling them over and over again.
In fact, I lathered up with several, one at a time, using my new brushes just to experience the varied aromas. Didn't even touch my face with a blade... What a hoot! I haven't picked out a favorite yet because they are all so good.
The brush is an addition to my loot from eBay. I think it's pretty cool, too.

Very nice Bill. I know exactly what you mean by opening up Mama Bear soaps and just sniffing. I do it every time I get a new order. I even open some up in my shave locker when choosing one for the day. Can't get enough of it.
