Was a bit of disaster. I mixed glycerine and witch hazel together, then added some Wintergreen essential oil. I mixed it up, then splashed it on after an otherwise excellent shave, only to feel like I'd splashed molten lava on my cheeks instead. This feeling persisted for about 2 minutes, and my face got incredibly red. Fortunately, both the feeling and the redness abated, but I'm pretty sure I added way too much wintergreen.

I'm going to try a new mix with only a little oil this time and report back.

How much Wintergreen did you use?

You didn't update this to say that the mixture ate right through the bottle you had it in. Did you ever get it remixed?

Uh oh. It appears poor cammo didn't make it. Rest in pieces, cammo. Rest in pieces (or sludge, considering... which is like tons of pieces as molecules).

And it was all for a kick-azz after-shave lotion. What a tragedy. Well, the good news is I regularly use wintergreen oil in my gluten-free chocolate brownie bread creations! Usually a combination banana bread/chocolate brownie type deal. Haven't noticed any toxic effects but I know a little goes a long way. It's called an extract for a reason... but I might give this a shot if I ever get "into" it. I actually have a little liquor bottle I picked up and sanitized off the street just for making reserves or sharing after shaves. Maybe I'll use that (I'd put the mixture into a wide-mouthed jar but if it works store it in the twist cap 'lil liquor bottle). I would post an electronic correspondence of the preparations, like poor cammo, you know... in case I don't make it, you would know the reason for my absence. This whole shaving hobby is getting more dangerous by the day!
