I have Mama Bear's Green Irish Tweed Type Shaving soap, and I like it. So I thought about perhaps trying Creed's GIT Shaving Soap. But: $55 in wooden bowl, didn't see refill pucks at all. I guess I'll hold off....

If you're looking for someone to act an an enabler, and convince you that it really is worth $55, then look no further.
I have the Creed GIT, although I have yet to sample the MB incarnation so I am unable to compare the two.
The Creed offering is a fine product, it embodies the qualities of both the upper end English soaps and the high end French soaps whilst still remaining quite unique.
It lathers quickly and easily and provides a good deal of protection for a soap that is also very slick. It doesn't cut as closely as a glycerine soap, but the skincare is unbeatable.
I was told that this particular product included honey in the formula, although I am unable to verify this, it might help to explain the skin care properties of this soap.
The scent of the edt translates quite well into the soap, although it loses some of its clarity and complexity. The scent left on the skin is very fleeting unfortunately, much like the edt itself:(
I wouldn't recommend the A/S balm however, whilst it is nowhere near as bad as Penhaligon's balms, I still found it to make my skin quite oily after application.

Let me congratulate you on your enabling abilities, Alex. I'm almost ready to buy the Green Irish Tweed shave soap myself now.

For that price, I will stick with the MB GIT. Works for me. :D

You raise some excellent points. I'll definitely put it in the wishlist... or order it. :) Many thanks. Excellent enabling.
