Wow...nobody's been doing anything fun, huh? :D
Okay, how about this:
Independence Day
Angus ribeye steak (grilled to perfection, if I do say so myself!)
fresh local corn on the cob
tomatoes and cucumbers in a raspberry vinaigrette
rolls
Red Hook Long Hammer IPA
A pipeful of Frog Morton on the Bayou and some Sandeman Port for after ::

Eastern North Carolina style pork BBQ! With homemade sauce of course. Haven't eaten yet though - it's only 7PM now and it's only been cooking since 5:45AM. Also, homemade cole slaw. Maybe some baked beans and fries too, though with the Q and slaw, nothing else really matters. :drool
Anyone want a recipe for KFC cole slaw? It's actually the only kind I like and I have a recipe that would make the Colonel call his lawyers!!
Oh and Blair, no mustard in the Q...it just ain't natural! :D

Actually, Michael, I like it the way you describe. I'm not a big fan of the mustard-based sauces that they have down state.

Here ya go, Rick.....
1/2 Cup mayo (I use regular, not lo-fat)
1/3 Cup granulated sugar
1/4 Cup milk
1/4 Cup buttermilk
2 ½ Tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 ½ Tablespoon white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
8 Cups finely chopped cabbage (about 1 head)
1/4 Cup shredded carrot (1 medium carrot)
2 Tablespoons minced onion
Chop cabbage and carrots very finely (about the size of rice). I just run 'em through a food processor.
Combine everything except cabbage, carrots and onions in a large bowl and beat til smooth
Add the cabbage, carrots and onions and mix well
Cover and refrigerate a couple of hours
Serves 10-12. (I usually cut the recipe in half as this makes a LOT of cole slaw! ...1/16 T of pepper?! )
You will be amazed at how faithful this is to the original - brought some to a fellow aficionado in the office one day and she accused me of buying it from the Colonel! One last thing...tried this with Miracle Whip once - it is not the same!!!
Enjoy!
To Work:
Padron Delicias cigar
To Home:
Samuel Gawiths Best Brown Flake in Vollmer and Nilsson Freehand pipe.
.................then a quick 9 holes of Golf b4 bed. :D

Huge pot of Gravy with meatballs, I am hitting the seal a meal tonight before I takeoff on my birthday trip... This should hold me over a couple months.. but even better than adding the au jus (which I did) would be to brown pork chops and throw in as it slow cooks...

For my birthday this morning, I have broken open a long stored box of 1987 Dunhill Aged Condados -- 1987 Harvest Crop. that I bought in the mid-90s. Man, is this good! I probably won't be storing these any longer and instead will smoke through the box in the next few weeks...:drool

I've decided to continue breaking into my stash of stored cigars. Tonight, a Cuban Montecristo torpedo, and some Anderson Valley IPA.

Thanks. Still getting used to this camera (Power Shot SD 450). I thought the picture was kind of blurry in the foreground, but something about it appealed to me...
