Rich, I can speak English well, and I can even write it well, but I'm a Francophone. I started to go to school in the only English school in my neighborhood in Haifa, Israel when I was growing up, but a month later, I switched to a French school. My wife has trouble even with basic English conversation, although she understands the language perfectly. She just can't put together a fluent sentence in English--it's a struggle for her.
