Hi everybody.. jumping back on the brushes and shaving creams.. had one when I was younger (given to me by pops), but stopped using it and have since lost it. Foolishness of youth or something I suppose..

Wondering about where I could start looking for a brush, DE razor (not nervey enough for the straight razor, waaay too long ago so want to ease back into) et all..

Welcome to the Shave Den, Chris. Check out our shave shopping index (http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1463) for some ideas. The are a few that are not listed there, like http://www.menessentials.com (which is in Canada.)

A good starter brush is the Crabtree & Evelyn Best Badger Brush ($35 USD). For razors, you can pick up a vintage Gillette Tech or Super Speed online at Ebay, or go with a new Merkur. Usually folks like to start with the HD, or heavy duty "classic." For blades, check out http://westcoastshaving.com. They offer a "sample pack" so you can try out several different kinds of blades at once before buying a bunch and then not liking them.

You can also check out our classifieds section, as several folks have recently posted stuff for newbies.

Thanks for the information, big big help.

Was at some english cigar / grooming shop today and they had the Merkur Futura in the store, but they were selling for 138$ (financial district, isnt that great.. :))

Did get a chance to feel teh heft of teh razor, and do like it. So may go with that. Want to see if I can get a feel of some other ones.
