Mantic has given us permission to link to his videos that train for many, many aspects of the wetshaving experience. :)
Are you interested in learning more about wetshaving? Please see the video's created by Mantic on YouTube... Mark has created an entire series on wetshaving techniques and covers many nuances of the art both basic and obscure. These are worth taking the time to explore and are quite a resource. This is for learning purposes only, there is no endorsement of the forum in any way shape or form being offered by Mantic in allowing me to offer these learning tools to you.

great news , Mark is the best.
Would it be possible to have this is a Sticky -Stick !
What I mean by that is whenever you go to Todays Posts that its the first thread or info people see. same goes for Leisureguy's Blog those two should be the first thing NOOBs should bump into.
I dont know if this is possible though....
I mean I know you should be able to find it by itself by looking in the ROOT of the Forums Thread. but I always start out by looking at Todays post to see whats HOT.

These videos are fantastic, they are the primary reason I got into traditional wetshaving. But that being said, shaving is about customization. Mark knows that as well as anyone and he states it very clearly. He mentions it numerous times in his videos. So if a particular technique doesn't work very well for you, feel free to try something else. But his principles are quite solid and should be heeded.
Good luck and Good Shaves to Everyone! ::

Mark, good stuff as usual. Now I know why I just have never been a fan of lathering on the face!! Too much left to chance.
Mark....
ya ever add water to the breech instead of the tips ?
Thats how I do it and wasnt sure if I saw you demonstrate it that way before.
Great Vid.....as usual

Yes, but normally I prefer not to because I usually add too much. :o The exceptions (for me) are when I Method shave with a Shavemaster brush (the construction of the brush makes direct breech loading easier) and when I add water to a mug/bowl then "pump" the brush into it.

That's the best thing about Mark's vids (for me). They are a gentle reminder to refocus. I was getting lazy in making lather, and wasn't taking enough time, or making lather on my face, and like he pointed out, it was too dry.
This morning I used some Mama Bear's Rosemary Mint (not really hard to make a good lather with!) but I really kept swirling that brush in the bowl and added a little more water. BAM! Enough lather for four passes and still washed some away in the sink!
Thanks again for the advice, Mark!!

It was a year ago today that I posted my first wetshaving video to YouTube. I figured I'd do 5 or 6 videos and let them languish on YouTube as a reference. That first video has now been viewed over 108,000 times. The channel now stands at 1260+ subscribers with over 445,000 total views of all videos, over an hour's worth of material. To say that those numbers surpassed my expections would be an understatement.
Who'd da thunk it?
I want to thank everyone here for their continuing input, suggestions, and support.

Mantic ,
Why is it you dialed the fatboy doors open a bit before adjusting the settings?
That was interesting but I never do it myself I simply set the fatboy to a different setting without opening the doors any reason to do so ?

Rene,
It's less stress on the inner mechanisms of the blade adjuster -- less pressure when moving helps lengthen the life of the moving parts.
Mark, Way To Go on this one! This might be your most informative video yet -- and that's saying a LOT. ::

Well done!!
I disagree with the assesment of the Gillette Fat Boy. The range of exposure does go from mild to aggressive ask anyone that shaves with it on 8 or 9...nothing mild about that. Regardless, another good video.

After a long hiatus, I just posted a new shaving video! This one addresses a frequently-asked-question I get on my YouTube Channel.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4MAZIKeNHQ
As you can see, I have upgraded my set-up. I now have a camcorder with an external mic input and capable of hi-def video (Canon HV20), a decent video editor (Sony Vegas), and some production animations (mostly from Digital Juice and iStockphoto).
I hope to post a new episode every month.
