Rene:
Put the cigar in your mouth for about 15-20 seconds and get the "head" (end nearest the cigar band) wet. The open end is the "foot".
Then, take a sharp knife (or you can use your teeth) and cut / bite a shallow circle of tobacco off the head.
Light fire. (matches work very well as long as you let the sulfur burn off)
Rotate the cigar in your mouth as you lite the foot.
Try to get the edges of the cigar lit first.
As soon as the entire surface of the cigar is lit, blow OUT thru it a little and relax.
Depending on the size of the gar, a puff every minute or so is all you need to keep her going strong.
Just watch the stogie as you smoke it and try to keep the burn even...all the way down.
Good luck.

Let us make this simple for him

Take a pen (ballpoint) and stick it in the end (punch a hole)

Take a WOOD match and light it evenly (rotate the match in circles while puffing), puff slowly.

Get a nice drink and enjoy. ::

I said ball point as you can take the writing stick out of it and use the pen casing and not the ink part

I should explain more for the folks playing the home game. :rofl

I use a torch lighter (Xikar) and one thing to keep in mind, no matter what type of flame you use, is to never let the cigar actually come in contact with the flame itself.

I've always read and heard (and it's been my experience) that you should light the cigar above the flame. Putting the cigar directly IN the flame causes it to singe, and then your cigar tastes like crap at the beginning.

But the most important part is to relax and enjoy it.. just like my bros are saying.

Rene, enjoy that Rosemary & Mint Shave Soap. It's really nice on it's own. Add KMF Mint or Tom's of Main Mint to it and it gets even better. For the cigar, I punch a hole in the end with a thick nail or something similar and use a torch lighter or wooden match after sulfur burn off. I draw the flame to the edge of the cigar while rotating the cigar. Move the cigar, not the flame. The key to a cigar is slow burn evenly on all sides. Savor it like a wine. Enjoy! Oh, and the Ogallala Aftershave is just something different to try.

It's a daily occurrence for me. I'm the only Data Jockey that can get them sales information for legal issues. They actually are very nice but demanding. The keep me well fed though. :D My normal job is to make sure all the outside and inside salespeople get paid commissions properly with the systems I design, manage and process.

:rofl :rofl Rich, when I was a young boy, still living in Israel, daddy, and grandpa used to shave with Kaloderma cream, or Noxzema, or Palmolive. Kaloderma is a very, very vintage cream. Rilanja is from Germany as well, but not an old cream, by any means. I never knew there was a Wilkinson shaving stick, til today. ;)

ooooh yeah. I've been looking forward to getting these soaps for a long time. Got a pile of money at the beginning of this week from a long-time savings-plan of my bank (I think it's "mortgage savings plan" in english - it's a governmentally sponsored savings plan where you put money in a special account for a coupl'a years with a good interest rate and a yearly bonus) and so I treated myself by ordering some goodies :D

Johnnie, that's a very nice haul there, mate!

@Rich: Rilanja is a drugstore-brand here in Austria and Germany, it's a cheap, but effective cream. The Wilkinson-stick can be found all over Europe but one doesn't encounter it often. The Kaloderma though is a very special cream. Basically you can't get it anymore. They're 50 times scarcer than those famed Yardley SSs and either you have one or you're a very, very lucky bastard finding one. Of course, you're also a lucky bastard if you know a friend who got one by chance and passed it on to you :D
