First time I ever got a decent shave with a Slant Bar, and with a Merkur blade no less. I used to hate the Slant Bar, I never understood what all the fuss was about. I didn't find the razor particularly harsh, just totally useless, couldn't get it to shave worth a damn no matter what I tried. As much as I hated the Slant, I hate Merkur blades evenmore. Today I picked it up on a whim and mistakenly put a Merkur blade in and I got the best DE shave I ever had. I won't be giving up on the straights (no reason to:D ) but it's nice to have a decent alternative if I'm in a hurry.

Result: 4.0/5.0 Could have been better. I had to play around too much with the soap sto lather where I wanted it. Need to use just damp brush and lather it on your face. Forget the bowl and and only add water to slick it up. Forget about lather. It's not happening. Smells really nice though and gave great glide with two day old beard and the Derby Blade on day 4 maybe 5. Unheard of for me to use a blade that long.

Because, blades usually are only good for 3 days with me and every two weeks I use a day 4 blade to shave my armpits. Heat + sweat = stink. The less hair to trap bacteria, the less stink and the more effective my herbal deodorant or Crystal works. Started it when I was 17 at Wonderbread.

Seems to work for me for some reason. Haven't had a razor burn yet. Probably because, I do it in the shower with lots a hot water. Works a lot better than the twin cartridge I used to use. Clogged too much.

Its only the 2nd time Ive used it but....
Tonight I splashed some on and felt the need to go again.
The 1st round wasnt enuff.
2nd splash = Too Much.
The AS qualities are very good...Alcohol burn and seal, mildly moisturizing but the scent is very long lasting.
1 application is fine with me.
I do like it a great deal so far.

Result: 4.6/5.0 Smooth all around. Bare minimum redness. One blemish at bottom of neck that hasn't healed yet so I have to work around it. The eShave Whte Tea Cream whips up nice but almost nothing to the scent. With the brush I was using it was fun plastering my face. With this brush, I like to squeeze the lather out and dip the brush into the lather and apply. Nice thick layers of lather.

I started the razor at WAY too high an angle for my upper lip and gouged my nose. :eek: :mad:

I don't know about the 16 part but I understand. There are times when something reminds me fondly of something in my youth and gives me an emotional upwelling. Something to treasure for you.
