I got to thinking about some of the products we keep hearing about again, and again, but for one reason or another are difficult for the majority of us to get ahold of; like Floid, and others.

So tell us what products you want to try, but can't for whatever reason.

Chronik Straight Razor- I have been told that the fuss about this razor is merely hype (not my words) but I still want to try one, if only I had the chance.

Kavall Straight Razor- Beautiful, hand forged damascus style straight. There is a picture buried somewhere in the archives of SRP. Haven't seen another one come up since I saw pictures of the first

Eloi Straight Razor- Once again, this one could have been a lot of hype from the seller but it sure was a beautiful razor. The first (and so far only) time I used a sniping service and it didn't ******* work:angry019

Larry Harley Straight razor- One of the most jaw droppingly gorgeous objects I have ever seen. 100% Wootz steel (including the handle) There's a pic in Kelly's (I think) gallery on SRP. I don't think he's ever made a straight for sale but I'll be seeing if I can get one made for my birthday (September 4th btw.)

Houbigant Fougere Royale Shaving Soap- I love vintage shaving soaps and this seems to be one of the rarest, most desirable types.

More Yardley shaving soap- I actually have one bowl but I want more, more, more:signs136

That's off the top of my head, but there's probably a lot more if I think about it.
Regards,
Alex

I don't think they are the same thing, bro. Regardless, I don't have an Eckerd, and the Walgreen's here that used to stock the Gillette DE's don't carry them anymore

Here's the Russians:

Maybe Rene will chime in here and help clarify this.

Well, that would be:

- a dubl duck straight
- a TI vintage blade straight (not hard to get but pricey)
- Yardley SS
- dapper dan pomade ( :D )
- a Gillette Old Standard from the first year of production
- Figaro SS (discontinued :( )
- and, finally, a non-shave related item: a gal for me :D

Coates. I was lucky enough to get a sample from someone but it was very dried out :(

I'd like to try Mitchell's soap too. Not necessarily hard to get online, but I'm spoiled being able to find pretty much everything else I want locally here in Austin :D

We have packs and packs of Gillettes made in Russia, but again, they don't look anything like that. They look like the Swede cardboard packaging but the colour is red instead of blue. And they come in 10s, not 5s.

As for me, Floid.

Oh yeah, also Coate's Tea Tree. Curious about the tea tree properties and how they affect the shave.

I must agree with Thomas, all the good old classics, they cost a fortune here in Europe (if you can find them)
How does 19 euros for a 6oz Pinaud sound

How I wish I could buy one of each Pinaud, some Aqua Velva.. and the other good ones..

Anybody know the shipping restrictions on alcohol based products overseas? I know every time I go to the post office I have to declare, "No liquids, perishables, breakables or hazardous materials."

Hi Peter,
Are you sure we are on about the same Larry Harley? The one who made the razor in the link I posted still has a website here (http://www.lonesomepineknives.com/index.asp). You can see the razor in the gallery there. Also, there was a post on SRP with a link to a knife forum where a number of bladesmiths were discussing straight razors and I think Larry Harley was one of them.
Of course i don't know how old the linked thread was and I didn't check to see when the website was last updated, so I may be looking at older material. His passing would help to explain why we hadn't seen more from such an obviously talented maker.
I'll try shooting him an email when I have a better idea of what I want in a custom razor.
Regards,
Alex

what I'd do to be able to get Noxzema lather cream in the tube again....what I'd do. Also, the Erasmic bowls are becoming a very rare commodity. Recently, I received a tube of Kaloderma shaving cream, which is alas, and alack, a vintage cream, no longer even in production.
