Happy Memorial Day

Hope you had a nice weekend.

I got to use my newly acquired 12" cast iron skillet. :D A batch of bacon with breakfast and then NY Strips steak with a custom dry rub very hot cast iron skillet cooked on the grill. I need to get used to this type of pan again. The steaks cooked super fast in the skillet. Caught me by surprise.

Ya, what he said. How's the injury? Of course, you might have a few more injuries if you don't turn over some cheese steaks or at least post a recipe if you have one.

My right hand is doing better, swelling is down and I can make a fist.

Left thumb took one yesterday with a play at the plate (I can't win).

I may be pitching next game so lets hope I don't DIE!

For all the people who can not get to
South Philadelphia to get the Original.

Here is the recipe for you home chefs.

Serves 4

24oz thin sliced rib eye or eye roll steak

6 table spoons of Soya bean oil

Cheese {we recommend Cheez Whiz®} American or Provolone works fine

4 crusty Italian Rolls

1 large Spanish onion

Optional
sweet green and red peppers sautéed in oil
Mushrooms sautéed in oil

Assembly

Heat an iron skillet or a non stick pan over medium heat

add3 table spoons of oil to the pan and sauté the onions to desired doneness

remove the onions

add the remaining oil and sauté the slices of meat quickly on both sides

melt the cheez Whiz® in a double boiler or in the microwave

place 6oz. of the meat into the rolls

add onions, and pour the Cheez Whiz® over top

garnish with hot or fried sweet peppers, mushrooms, ketchup

Put on the theme song to the first Rocky movie and enjoy!

I'm sure there is more that I'm not recalling at this time.

Maybe, just possibly gonna try my hand at making candy, too. Caramels to be exact.

Can we hire you? Instead of cologne decants or blade samples we can have baking tins of goodies. :D

Tandoori potato pizza (order in). Delicious in an Indian-Italian fusion way that has to be tasted to be understood!

Made the Chicken Tortilla Soup the other night.

It was yummy! :drool

Starting to crave the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake now. Hmmm....it's only 10:30 at night. That's not too late to start baking. Is it?

Yes sir, yes they do!

I took a tour of their factory here, they take "our" same approach to shaving, with their roasting....using the old-school vintage roasting machines. Very cool. :happy088

On a side note - I hated coffee until I started drinking Ristretto Roasters (owned by DJ/Dinder), opened my taste buds up to a whole new world:

1) Intelligentsia
2) Kona (the real stuff)
3) Jim's Organic Coffee
4) Metropolis

Aha!

Man....they give you a half-pound bag at the end of the tour (filled with beans roasted fresh during the tour).

You have to wait a day for the gas to escape the freshly-roasted bean, but I'll tell ya....I couldn't get enough of that stuff brewed with the fresh beans. It was the ambrosia of coffee .

When you order they list the roast date on the bag. It's usually the same day I ordered it.
