Off to bed right after I post this... just got done deciding what I'm going to use when I wake up (in about ohhh.. 3 hours or so    )
Hot shower
Proraso Pre-Post at end of shower
B&B Finest Ebony
'63 Fatboy w/ Sharps blade (Day 1)
Tabac soap
Warm water rinse
Cold water rinse
Aqua Velva A/S splash
Cold water rinse
Anherb A/S Milk + Mama Bear's Summer A/S Milk Peppermint w/ Menthol == :cool:
YSL Rive Gauche EdT
And on a somewhat related side note: I'm having a hard time using anything other than my Fatboy. Nothing gets as close, with as little irritation. Is it the weight of the razor? Is it the geometry of the head angle? Is it the thickness of the handle? Don't know. But something about it is magical...

I havent posted in this section for a while, so here goes.
Merkur Slant w/gillette
C&E Best Badger Brush
MB Giovanni's Tuscan Memories SS
witch hazel splash
Aqua Velva A/S
L'Occitane Eau des 4 Voleurs EdT
I skipped the alum block today, just to see if there was any real difference. I replaced it with a witch hazel splash. The only thing I'm noticing is that my face doesnt feel as dry, and I havent used an ASB yet. Probably won't need to. I might be onto something here...
I forgot how much I love Mama Bear's original Giovanni's Tuscan Memories soap too. I've neglected it since I've gotten new toys like the Florena and St. James creams. The smell is perfect, and it lathers like no other.

Tweezerman Badger Brush - Poor thing got one whiff of the soap and started shedding.
Merkur Futur/Derby (3)
QEDman Vetiver Soap - Talk about a strong scent! I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one but it mellowed out after I put it on.
Thayer's Witch Hazel, Alcohol, Aloe Aftershave
Ogallala Bay Rum Aftershave - I threw this on about 20 minutes after the shave. I didn't need a balm.
Result: 4.6/5.0 BBS with no real backtalk from the Thayer's. The QED soap did a really nice job of protecting even with the Derby. The Derby's don't do as well as the Feathers. I'm going to have to revisit all the blades since I have my techniques down and can make some better evaluations.

Today was one of those shaves where everything falls in its place.
I think not having shaved on Sunday did contribute to a closer shave aswell.
- Brush Teeth -> Put on Scent from Heaven Shave oil quite some oil on the beard to start weaken it.
->> Get some breakfast going mind you this is 2PM when I was doing this all...
-> Take smoothie and eggs upstairs while having breakfast play some pacman game at TSD while the beard weakens further oh goodie beat my own hi score while im at it. oh that was fun .....
Shower Aramis Shampoo + VGH Bath Soap.

Sorry about not being able to color-coordinate the splashes to the bottles. All they had at my Target was blue, and white. So the Polar Ice was good to go, but the rest of them had to be in white bottles. ;)

Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood Bath Soap
Merkur HD Classic Gold/7AM (1)
Omega Boar Brush
Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar Soap (Note: This is not a lathering soap. It's slick, cushioning and smells real nice but your best bet is to put it on your face with a brush and then use a wet hand and smooth it. Water is your friend. You shouldn't be disappointed.
Ogallala Bay Rum Aftershave
Ogallala Special Reserve Double Strength Bay Rum Cologne
Result: 4.6/5.0 Near BBS and no irritation. I had tried about 6-7 different ways to pull lather out of these soaps without success. I changed my approach and treated it like a no lather/brushless cream. I'm glad I did. It worked out great that way.

It's funny how once we were hooked on this we started to look forward to our next shave. I shave in the morning and then when I'm putting my stuff away, I scan everything to see what I want for tomorrow and pull it to the front. Unless, of course, I change my mind during the next 24 hours because of a whim or more likely someone here posts how great their shave came out and you want to try that. :D

Shaving Toner: Thayer's Original Witch Hazel & Aloe Toner
Body Lotion: Burt's Bees Dr. Burt's Vitamin E Body & Bath Oil
After Shave Balm: Ogallala Bay Rum & Hazelnut Coffee Hand & Body Lotion
Result: BBS with a hint of irritation. 4.6/5.0 It's that final elusive part of BBS with no irritation. My mid-neck just does not want to co-operate sometimes.

Funny you should ask. Was up and adam early. Decided to work from home. Then decided to look at Leesrazors website. Decided to call Lee and chat for awhile. Decided to buy a Simpsons Duke 2 in best, a Merkur LH Classic, a puck of Col. Conk's bay rum, a bottle of Col. Conk's Bay Rum aftershave ( and a couple of surprises which I will post a pic of upon receipt) then decided to take the Late Thursday Afternoon Shave that you are referring to. Finally, I decided that next time I should work from the office. :D

I am fond of Burt's Bees products but it has been a lot of trial and error. I'm getting a little upset with them on their shotgun product release approach. Make everything possible to please everybody and nobody. Wait to see what people buy and then kill it as soon as possible and release something else. I've had to toss a few products. I do like their shampoos, lip balms, bath crystals and facial washes (Bedtime usage is better. Too thick feeling for preshave.) The rest they can keep. I use the deodorant and like it but, Crystal Mineral spray will be what I use when it runs out.

You're spot on my man.
Have you tried the Dr. Haushcka (natural, holistic stuff)?
Its really good stuff, take a browse through their website, there's some real good info on there. They apparently are pioneers in the realm of natural skincare products.
--> One thing I learned reading that site is that you shouldn't apply moisturizer before bed...instead allowing your skin to replenish moisture via its own mechansims. My goal: When I'm 90 years old, I'll have the skin of a 22 year old :D Then, I can die :happy001 (with velva in the casket)

Joe, if I don't apply a HEAVY moisturizer before bed (plus Lanolin or pure Shea-butter) my skin on the lower neck will be completely dry, red and flaky in the morning, so that info is BS in my opinion. But YMMV.
Rich, thanks for the warning and the suggestions of products!

Interesting. I'm not one to buy into snake-oil so easily, but they seemed to have a solid history....and the stuff is made in Germany (as many other quality things), so I gave them the "benefit of the doubt". What I do know for sure is that the products I'm using work phenomenally.
Excerpt:
http://www.drhauschka.com/images/common/1l.gif Skip the night cream; your skin will thank you.
While you sleep your skin is actually hard at work regenerating itself, balancing oil production and expelling impurities. Regular application of night creams interferes with these essential tasks, and over time skin becomes less able to care for itself. Covering the skin with moisturizer 24 hours a day sends a signal to sebaceous glands to cut down on moisture production, resulting in even drier skin that becomes dependent on moisturizing products just to appear “normal.”
----> Joe here, this seems to make sense....but as with most things, it might not be a universal truth
