Not a big fan of the Smart Shave, got it in a trade. It's the first cream or soap to leave a residue behind on my skin when I was doing my cold water splash after the last pass. Not a fan of having my shaving lubricant stick around.

Mama Bear Attar of Roses Cream
Brought the C&E Best Badger Brush to work to use up some creams with.
Parker 60R Razor/Feather
Finished off with Alum Block, Thayer's Rose Witch Hazel and Nivia Sensitive ASB.

Result: Near BBS with just a hint under the chin of irritation. 4.1/5.0

Note: I've used the Parker 22R and 60R a couple of weeks now. I find I prefer the 60R for two reasons. 1) It's heavier than the 22R and I seem to prefer heavier razors. 2) I found a little rust in the 22R with a 7AM blade in it after 3 days. I need to figure out if it was a reaction to that blade or something else since I'm pretty good at shaking out and patting dry the razors after use. First time I've seen it in any of my razors.

Tabac Shave Soap - First time. Now I know what you guys are talking about. Very nice scent and shave. Equal to C&E Almond Soap. Next to try will be a QED soap.

Parker 60R/Feather day 3. Still OK but I might drop to 2 day on blade changes for a while. I think I have a 3 year supply of various blades even at 2 day changes. :D

Result - 4.4/5.0 Near BBS. I don't try for BBS. I let it come naturally.

Rich, the KMF Vanilla Earth is a real nice cream. Fresh clean vanilla scent (not overpowering), lathers up beautifully on the face, protects while shaving. It's more liquid than I'm used to in a cream, but the end result of nice foamy cushioning is the same.

Looks like it was a QED Bay Rum soap day for a couple of us. I can't believe how much lather I got out of this using my standard soap lather technique. I thought I had dumped a 1/2 can of whipped cream into the bowl. I got a tingle on the face from the soap. Not sure what that was since it did not irritate me.

I took it super slooow with the Il Vero became Zen really becomming aware of every stroke with the razor. no cuts or nicks very nice but after 2 passes I wasnt really BBS but im still learning but today it went really nice did the complete chin area with the straight actually I would have been good enough to go out like this with the straight shave of 2 passes today.
Really enjoyed the slow pace.

Perhaps I will never be one of those guys to pull off a BBS with a straight but I will always keep it in my rotation and there just is something else that words can not describe to shave with a straight and the combo of a DE touch up works fine by me.

Rene, glad it's coming together for you. I am still in the learning process myself, and if I am time pressed (like this morning) I'll do one pass with a straight and finish with a DE. I do so love having the time to really focus on a great straight shave, though, and I find that even when I go back to the DE, I have less trouble. Seems like the straight really takes you to a new level of shaving awareness, almost "zen," as you say. I'm enjoying the learning process.

I have to list another SOTD for today. A buddy of mine visited me and he wanted me to give him a shave as I had told him once I also shave myself with straights. So I took my Prima Klang and some other supplies and did my thing. First time I shaved someone else and I managed it with only 2 beheaded pimples, no nicks or cuts. Didn't get quite BBS but that was not the goal anyway :D

That sounds like fun ! Klaus.... I keep having flashes of wanting to shave someone else specially my colleageus at work who walk around well like a Bum.

I so want to give them a shave I know they are still doing it wrong. what can you do to a guy who uses dish wash soap to shave himself..or regular handsoap bar ? and my other colleageu who actually bought a DE sampler and a Parker from me never really understood how to work it all.

But I would feel more comfortable to shave them with a DE not with a straight so why not shave him with a DE ? he might convert to DE then....

But atleast he will be a brush -soap-cream guy from now...

Actually I too would have preferred it to shave him with a DE, but no, he very clearly made his point he wanted a classic straight-razor-shave. ;)

I already know I'll convert him to a DE in the end, it's only a matter of time. I showed him mine and some blades and taught him the principles of shaving with DEs and that it's as easy as shaving with his Mach3 with essentially no greater danger of getting hurt and he seemed really interested. I just want him to get into the soap/cream/brush-kinda thing for a start and the wish for a DE will pretty much arise from itself in the future - at least I hope so :D
Heck, maybe he'll also become a daily shaver in the end - up till now he only shaved once a week or so :rolleyes:
