It's a lovely looking straight. Do you think your angle was too great, and caused the nicks (lip & neck)? Possibly it's an overhoned or coarse edge that is catching?

Shave Soap of the Day
Sat - Nancy Boy Signature Cream - Great Lather, smell, etc
Sun - C&E Sweet Almond Oil Cream - Even better than the Nancy Boy
Mon - Mama Bear Attar of Roses - Little long to get the lather and consistency going but I got it there. I'm finding that rose is not my thing so I may put this on hold with the Thayer's Rose Witch Hazel.

Shave Results:
Sat - 3.9/5.0 Neck got roughed up a little. I as in hurry and used the Sensor.
Sun - 4.4/5.0 Much Better. Had to go real easy on the roughed up part.
Mon - 4.1/5.0 Result was good but the scent was bugging me a little.

I dont know what happend with the lower lip im always scared using it on the lower lip part and around the chin area under the chin area is still for me a NO NO with a straight . All I did was place the STraight under the lower lip area and wham it cut already into the skin. so your assumptions seem right to me.

Over honed ? no Idea it was honed by Lynn Abrams. I did strop liek a maniac today on the paddle strop ? :eek:
Def the angle is still hard for me under the lower lip area. Neck area is ok for me to do and cheeks aswell. Upper lip good aswell.

The nicks on the lower neck were def. the result of the Fatboy with the feather Xchris forgot to mention it a Straight rarely gives me a Nick, straight more cut me directly into the skin when I have a wrong angle.
It is fun to use Straights sofar dont give me BBS results but im not looking for that right now just to get a feel of what technique is needed to shave with straight.

Im actually finding the stropping part is fun aswell , kinda puts you at ease connects you to the blade something a DE will never have you simply toss that into your razor.

The odd part-

Dollar General Super Stainless DE Blades
(Package gives no indication of who makes them, just says "Compare to Schick Double Edge Blades".

Brush - NOS Ever-Ready C-40, Boars Hair I would guess.
The short stiff brush really whipped up a fine lather, a little prickly on the face but I liked the lather it made.

Blades - pretty smooth shave, 2 passes, 3 on my neck. I hesitate to say they are comparable to anything else until I've done a few more shaves.

I would say the shave was an 7 out of ten.

I shouldnt shave with the tiny cut in my middle front chin area but who can resist when you have new goodies ?? I was even thinking of growing a Goatee just so I can shave and let the skin heal at the same time. I just skipped the area around the cut and still look ok.since my last shave was 12 hours ago.

The Lavendor is a great cream truly Class act. it lathers like a dream the perfect lather builder for a newbie into wetshaving with no effort at all I had Merinque luscious airy shave cream. it lubricates very well.
Boubi you know your stuff this is a KEEPER for me.
smells nice between arab gum and sweet Tamara but very light awesome..

I got a trade of what I thought were "Swedish" Gillettes but turned out to be "European" Gillettes which I was assured were the same thing. Future shaves will tell, but really, this one was close enough to the Swede sensation that I am almost convinced it's the truth.

If you like the sound of hairzapoppin when you shave, try this. :eek: First pass on a beard that's barely wet, and certainly not SOFT, sounds like you're shaving sandpaper! :D

It was an experiment - and for me, a successful one! Today was one of the best shaves I've had since November when I picked up a DE for the first time in many years. Absolutely BBS with no irritation whatsoever.

For some reason, I've always preferred to shave first, then shower. However, since conventional wisdom says that's backwards, I've been showering first of late. Just seems wrong though, so now, it looks like I'm going back.

Fergie, I shave before shower too however I just do the shave, no post shave routine until I get out of the shower. Every time I shower first then shave, I seem to get more irritation. I think the hot shower dries my face out.

The Wilkinson Bowl Blue great smell very very nice ! much better smell then the black bowl found it just a bit hard to lather but probably due to I put too much oil on top of the soap preventing it to lather so next time less water and no oil.
For pass 3 I mixed Crema da Sapona with the left over in the brush of wilkinson good combo.

thank goodness for the Anherb gel, because it seemed that the Boots cream was irritating me a little. It has a slight trace of menthol as well, though, nowhere near as strong, or as nice as Ingram. The Anherb stuff, both the gel or conditioner, are MEGA mentholated, and sure freeze any irritation in their tracks! :cool: :cool:
